(ATLUS) "STICKER MANIA": Japanese Video Arcade Sensation to Debut in America

NEW YORK -- June 9, 1997

Tokyo-based Atlus Co. Ltd. (Atlus) introduces Japan's latest craze -- it's "Print Club" photo sticker machine at the Licensing '97 Trade Show in New York, June 10-12, 1997.

Print Club is a personalized photo sticker machine that has quickly become Japan's number one video arcade game. Introduced less than two years ago, there are now 15,000 Print Club machines in use across Japan, generating $850 million in sales, and accounting for 17% of Japan's total video arcade business.

Print Club is easy to use. Located in video arcades, shopping centers and grocery stores -- users stand in front of a machine and select a "frame" that places them in a picture with their favorite cartoon characters, television personalities, pop music and film stars or sports figures.

Priced at $3 retail, users receive a page of 16 attractive stickers that can be collected, traded, given as gifts, used on business cards, letters and other personal items. In Japan there are accessories that go with Print Club stickers, such as key chains, pins, toys and protective covers.

Atlus began marketing it's Print Club machine targeting young woman, who did not have video amusement machines specifically developed for them. Print Club machines soon became so popular that users have coined a word, "Pricla" (pronounced pree-ckla) to describe the Print Club experience. It is now estimated that 1,500,000 Japanese girls, boys, women and men "Pricla" every day.

Atlus has been a pioneer in the amusement field since 1986. Its major business divisions include home video game software, video game machines and amusement arcade franchising. Through the innovative efforts of its President, Naoya Harano, Atlus has been at the forefront of gaming trends and responsible for such successes as billiard bars and karaoke boxes. Due to his success in the amusement industry, Mr. Harano has been given the title "Mastermind of the Game Trade" by the Japanese media.

Mr. Harano will be attending the Licensing '97 trade show and will be available for interviews with interested media.
