(Inchon/Media Valley) Korean City of Inchon Hosts Dance Performance & Investment Conference in N.Y.C. on July 14-15, 1999
NEW YORK -- June 8, 1999
To give thanks to Korean War Veterans and the parents of adopted Korean children, the City of Inchon - the site of General Douglas MacArthur's celebrated landing that reversed the course of the Korean War - is hosting a classical Korean dance performance on July 14, 1999 at the Town Hall Theatre in New York City. The following day an investment conference will be held on July 15, 1999 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel to familiarize U.S. investors and high-tech companies with Inchon City's multi-billion dollar "Tri-Port" development project.
Inchon is the most rapidly growing city in Korea. At present growth rates, it is destined to become its second largest municipality in five years. Situated in the Seoul metropolitan area, the City of Inchon paved the way for the industrialization of South Korea in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, this thriving city is working hard to develop the advanced infrastructure and high-tech and information industries Korea will need to remain competitive in the 21st century.
Inchon's "Tri-Port" project consists of three integrated components. These include Korea's new international airport, an expansion of its seaport facility and the creation of Songdo Media Valley, an information and technology-oriented teleport project destined to become the "Silicon Valley" of Korea.
The July 14th dance performance is sponsored by Daewoo Corporation, the Korea Society and The Korea Times New York. It will be held at NYC's Town Hall Theatre at 123 West 43rd Street in the Time Square district of Manhattan. It will begin at 8:00 P.M. and feature a 90-minute performance by the Inchon City Dance Company. This company was established in April, 1981 with the aim of reviving Korean traditional and folk dances. With over 200 performances, this company of over two dozen dancers promotes local culture among audiences in Korea and around the world. Over the years the company has performed in Anchorage and Los Angeles, Toronto, Kitakyushu in Japan, Sao Paulo, Iguatu, Salvador and Brasilia in Brazil, Beijing and Tianjin in China, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Portugal, Mexico and many other locations.
Inchon's July 15, 1999 investment conference will begin at 9:00 A.M. It will be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel at 1535 Broadway in Manhattan. A range of speakers will discuss the numerous high-tech, real estate, tourism and infrastructure investment and business opportunities offered by Inchon's Tri-Port project.
Tickets to Inchon's July 14th dance performance will be sold at $30 and $25 at all Ticket-master outlets, including Tower Records, HMV Records, J&R Musicworld and Rite-Aid Drugs. Tickets are also available at the Town Hall Box Office until June 26th and on the day of the show. Tickets will be made available to accredited journalists and Korean War Veterans at no charge.
