To assist in developing a better understanding of the evolving relationship between Japan and China and its implications on Japanese trade policy and the new round of WTO trade negotiations; Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Chairman and CEO Noboru Hatakeyama will speak at a luncheon meeting at the Japan Society on March 12, 2002. It will be held at 12:00-2:00 PM (lecture beginning at 12:45 PM) and be entitled "New WTO Round: What Does China Mean for Japan?"

In addition to comments by Chairman & CEO Hatakeyama, a panel discussion will be organized featuring Wendy Cutler, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Japan, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative; Naoko Munakata, Senior Fellow, Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry, Visiting Fellow, the Brookings Institution; and Bruce Stokes, International Economics Columnist, National Journal. It will be moderated by Richard Katz, Senior Editor of Toyo Keizai's Oriental Economist Report.
