Invitation Letter

Korea’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (“MOCIE”) is pleased to join forces with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (“KOTRA”) and Invest Korea to host the first Korea Investment Forum. It will be held on June 28, 2006 from 11:30AM-2:00PM in the Holmes Room at the New York Palace Hotel at 455 Madison Ave. (50th St.) in New York City.

You are invited to attend and learn why Korea is now emerging as one of the most attractive investment locations in the Asia Pacific region. Its strong economic growth, increasingly favorable business environment, and rapid transformation into a truly knowledge-based information society have contributed to a wealth of trade and investment opportunities. This is true not only in respect to helping you achieve your international goals, but in terms of our domestic economy as well. Recent estimates indicate almost half of the Fortune Global 500 list of companies have established a foothold in Korea, investing in more than 600 companies active in technology, financial and business services, biotech, mobile communications, gaming, automobiles and other sectors. To fulfill their globalization objectives, major corporations are also recognizing Korea as an ideal logistics and R&D base.

The economic relationship between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea remains strong and vibrant. In 2004, Korea was the seventh largest trading partner of the U.S., and the U.S. represented Korea’s second largest source of trade. Once concluded, the Free Trade Agreement (“FTA”), which is now being negotiated between the U.S. and Korean governments, promises to further reduce trade barriers and bring our countries even closer. That will give rise to many new opportunities for trade and investment and advance the interests of businesses and consumers in both the U.S. and Korea.

We hope that you will join with us on June 28th so that we might tell you more about the many changes that are now taking place in Korea and how we can work together to maximize your business success.

Sincerely,

Minister
Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy
