Jonathan Lemco

Dr. Jonathan Lemco is a senior consultant for KWR International, Inc. (KWR); a firm specializing in the delivery of research, communications, consulting and advisory services to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Drawing upon his extensive experience as a country risk analyst, investment banker and economic analyst, Dr. Lemco consults, and maintains extensive relationships with a broad network of institutional investors, Central Bank officials, Finance Ministry civil servants, ratings agency analysts, and academic experts worldwide. He is also the author of nine books and numerous articles and reports on a variety of topics related to economic and political risk, international trade and investment, and comparative public policy. His most recent book, Turmoil in the Peaceable Kingdom, has been nominated for two national book awards. Prior to joining KWR International in 1999, Dr. Lemco served as the senior sovereign risk analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. Dr. Lemco worked globally with the debt capital markets group and other investment bankers on numerous roadshow and underwriting enterprises. For example, he was the sovereign analyst on the groundbreaking $1 billion debt issuance from the People's Republic of China, as well as the $500 million offering from the Korea Development Bank, and others from sovereign and corporate entities in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Latin America, Canada and Eastern Europe.

Before that, he served as a director at the National Policy Association, a leading Washington-based "think tank." In addition, since 1980, Dr. Lemco has been on the faculty of a variety of universities including McGill University in Montreal and The Johns Hopkins University-SAIS in Washington D.C. He has also been a guest professor at universities in Taiwan and Korea, and has guest lectured in many other nations.

Dr. Lemco has written for and/or been interviewed in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The International Herald Tribune, USA Today, and The Globe and Mail. He is frequently called upon to comment on trade and investment issues for radio and television, and at one time hosted a nationally broadcast weekly radio news program. Dr. Lemco received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Rochester in 1982.
