Roger P. Nye
Senior Consultant and Director - Ratings Services
Dr. Roger P. Nye serves as a senior consultant at KWR International, Inc. (KWR); a firm specializing in the delivery of research, communications, consulting and advisory services to public and private sector clients. In this capacity he draws on more than twenty-five years of experience investigating the political, economic and financial factors that affect the growth, stability and creditworthiness of countries, banks and corporations around the world.
Dr. Nye specializes in assisting borrowers in the capital markets with their credit ratings. Prior to starting a consulting career in 1991, Mr. Nye worked for five years at Moody's Investors Service as a Senior Analyst in the Sovereign Risk Unit. His department was responsible for assigning credit ratings and assessing the creditworthiness of government and bank borrowers in the global capital markets. Previously he headed the International Evaluation department at Atlantic Richfield Company in Los Angeles and was responsible for evaluating all foreign investment projects for the petroleum and natural resources company from the standpoint of country risk. Over a period of eleven years, he supervised a staff devoted to global intelligence and strategic planning.
Dr. Nye has published more than three dozen articles and books on investment-related topics encompassing Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and country risk. He has addressed numerous public and private forums on issues involving direct and fixed-income investment. He served overseas as a teacher in the U.S. Peace Corps. His languages include Turkish and French.
Dr. Nye has a Ph.D. in international relations from Washington University and a B.A. in political science from Williams College. He completed postdoctoral courses in international trade and finance at the University of Southern California and at New York University. In addition to advising many banks and governments around the world, his years of teaching and consulting include assignments with Monsanto Company, Koppers Company, Inc., Smith Barney Shearson, Burns Fry Ltd., and Republic National Bank of New York.
