Eugene Eungjin Kim

Dr. Eugene Eungjin Kim serves as a New York-based senior consultant at KWR International, Inc. (KWR); a firm specializing in the delivery of research, communications, consulting and advisory services to a wide range of public and private sector clients.

Drawing on his extensive investment and central banking, research, regulatory and financial experience, Dr. Kim helps KWR clients to more fully communicate, understand, and to expand their commercial and financial relationships with a wide range of entities in Korea, Japan, the U.S. and other international markets. Dr. Kim also works with Korean and U.S. firms, government agencies and financial institutions to enhance their international operations and to plan and implement a wide range of research, marketing and public and investor relations’ as well as transactional, business development and financially-oriented initiatives around the world.

Dr. Kim concurrently serves as Head of East Asia at A.Bridge & Co., an investment banking firm specializing in the East Asian market. His responsibilities include analyzing East Asian economies and relevant financial transactions as well as maintaining close relationships with sell-side institutions and companies seeking financial assistance. Previously, Dr. Kim served for over two decades at the Bank of Korea, holding positions including Senior Economist & Representative in the New York Representative Office; Chief of the International Economics Office in the Research Department; Chief of International Relations Office in the International Department; Senior Economist in the Money and Banking Division, and Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Developing Economies in Tokyo, Japan. While serving at the Bank of Korea, Dr. Kim was a member of the Korean Delegation that visited New York to negotiate with creditor banks to extend the maturity of loans to Korean banks and other relevant issues during the Asian “IMF” financial crisis. He also participated as a delegation member to, and participant at, many multilateral, bilateral and policy-oriented forums including IMF/World Bank, ADB, IADB, OECD and BIS meetings and other relevant events.

Dr. Kim frequently lectures and writes on the Korean economy and other relevant issues. This includes acting as a Special Economic Columnist for JoongAngUSA, Guest Columnist for Money Today and speaking engagements for the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the USA, and The Graduate School of Law at Columbia University. Dr. Kim has also served as a guest lecturer at The Graduate School of Economics at Seoul National University, The Federation of Korean Industries and several other organizations. He has also served as an instructor at the Graduate School of Business of Kyonggi University and a lecturer at The School of Economics of Sungkyunkwan University.

Dr. Kim has published many academic and policy papers, that have been presented to, and/or published by, organizations including the Korea Trade Research Association, The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, The School of Law of Columbia University, the International Symposium of Finance and Bank Management sponsored by the State Bank of Vietnam, The Bank of Korea, the Bank Indonesia in cooperation with USAID, Seoul National University, Institute of Developing Economies, Institute for East Asian Studies, and IMF Mission to the People’s Bank of China.

Dr. Kim is fluent in English and is a native Korean speaker. He holds a Ph.D. in Monetary & Development Economics from Clark University, a M.A. in Monetary Economics & International Finance and B.A. in Economics from Seoul National University. He maintains numerous professional affiliations including the 3/23 Group of US-Japan Studies, The Korea-America Economic Association, Korea Trade Research Association, Korean Association of Money & Finance and Korean Association of Public Economics.
